Level 42 are an English band, who had a number of worldwide and UK hits during the 1980s and 1990s. Featuring Mark King (bass, vocals), Phil Gould (drums), Boon Gould (guitar) and Mike Lindup (keyboards), the band formed in 1979. Their most successful single in the UK was “Lessons in Love”, which reached number three on the UK Singles Chart and number 12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, upon its release in 1986. The earlier single, “Something About You” was their most successful single in the US, reaching number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Throughout the 1990s and the 2000s, the band’s line up fluctuated, with King the lone constant and his brother, guitarist Nathan King joining the group in 2001. Level 42 released a studio album, Retroglide, in 2006. Four years later, the band celebrated its 30th anniversary with a special tour, as well as a box set, Living It Up.
