James Newell Osterberg Jr known as Iggy Pop is an American singer songwriter, musician and actor born on April 21st 1947, in Muskegon, Michigan. He is the vocalist of influential proto-punk band The Stooges, who reunited in 2003 and has been known for his outrageous and unpredictable stage antics. Pop’s music has encompassed a number of styles over the course of his career, including garage rock, punk rock, hard rock, art rock, new wave, jazz and blues. There’s a reason why many consider Iggy Pop the godfather of punk. Every single punk band of the past and present has either knowingly or unknowingly borrowed a thing or two from Pop and his late 60s to early 70s band, The Stooges. In 2010, The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
