Cream were a 1960s British rock supergroup consisting of Jack Bruce (bass, vocals), Ginger Baker (drums) and Eric Clapton (guitar, vocals). Their unique sound was characterised by a hybrid of blues rock, hard rock and psychedelic rock, combining psychedelia themes, Clapton’s blues guitar playing, Bruce’s powerful, versatile vocals and prominent bass playing, Baker’s distinctive, pulsating, jazz-influenced drumming and Pete Brown’s poetry-inspired lyrics. The group’s third album, Wheels of Fire in 1968 was the world’s first platinum-selling double album. The band is widely regarded as being the world’s first successful supergroup. In their career, they sold more than 15 million copies of their albums worldwide. The band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
